My Pulse, Goals Setting and Development Plan

My Pulse is a self-assessment whose intent is to highlight the member’s unique strengths and remind him where he is at his best, as well as to pinpoint some potential gaps or areas of development that, with a little bit of focus, can help him become even better.

My Pulse measures behaviour and does not have psychometric properties.

It has 3 sections:

  • Self
  • Others
  • Business

If during the onboarding questionnaire, the member declares he/she is not responsible for managing people, then My Pulse won’t show the section dedicated to ‘Others’.

After completion, a static report with the results will be shared with the member on the platform and via email and you will be able to see the report in the dedicated section in the member's dashboard (you won't get it via email).

The report won't be shared with the Line Manager (if any), however, we encourage the member to share some key themes, or the full report with a few people close to them, such as their manager, colleagues and close family or friends, to calibrate and sense check how this fits with their experience of the member.

Goals are an aim or a desired result of the member that is aligned with the company vision. The goals are specific to each project and are usually found in the programme info.

Mindbeat offers a predefined list of around 30 goals.

In rare cases, the client might ask to have custom goals for the members/coachees.

Both goal types can be enforced if the client asks to do so: in that case, it won't be possible for the user to change them.

It’s a challenge for us to make sure Members set and rate goals on programmes, so you must assist your Members in setting goals. To ease that, we have therefore built a feature where Members can only attend two coaching sessions (this might be a 1:1 and a three-way conversation or two 1:1 sessions) before setting goals.

All they need to do is to click on Goals on the dashboard and Set Goals.

Two scenarios can happen according to the configuration we set up:

1) My Pulse Assessment is enabled: the member has to complete the assessment before setting up, rating and committing to goals.

When My Pulse is enabled, the member's assessment results are linked to specific scores. Based on the lowest-scoring areas, the system will suggest 2 goals out of the MIndbeat list, which the member can adjust if desired (unless they are enforced).

2) My Pulse Assessment is disabled: the member can set up, rate and commit to goals directly.

We will notify the member via email notifications about all the steps to take but we need your help too!

The member can change the goals - if they are not enforced - until they are locked: that would

be 24 hours after the first 1:1 session is held (if it's only group sessions it will happen 24 hours after

the member commits to goals).

After this time the goals are locked and you or your Member will need to email support@mindbeat.app if changes are needed to the goals.

In terms of the number of goals, we suggest no more than 1 goal for three sessions so that the member can focus on that and get a real commitment hence a result.

What happens when the goals are locked?

If the Line Manager is involved in the journey, initial line manager ratings on members' goals are triggered when the goals are locked.

When the Line Manager provides the rating, his/her feedback will be shown to the member and you on the member's page.

In the scenario, when the member you are coaching hasn’t got any initial ratings on his goals when you land on the Coaching Program Page for that member, then you will get a warning message: ‘Line Manager Feedback Pending - name Line Manager hasn’t provided any feedback on her goals yet. Please remind her to contact the Line Manager’

How many times the member can rate his/her goals?

1) Initial Rating —> At the beginning of the program: crucial to monitor progression, the member gets notifications to do and you will help to remind him

2) Final Rating—> At the end of the program: crucial to monitor progression. Crucial to monitor progression, the member gets notifications to do and you will help to remind him

3) Re-ratings —> any time the member wants during the journey. This won't be notified by us.

What else should you know about goals?

Each Mindbeat goal is associated with one Learning Track.

A learning track is a structured sequence of educational content designed to help learners develop specific skills or knowledge over time and it is always goal-oriented.

The member gets notified via email on a regular cadence when one new resource is published.

It might contain internal or external articles, videos, podcasts, and exercises.

We assign LT to the member when he joins the platform to explain how it works and when he commits to goals since each goal has a LT associated.

Besides that, if you want to assign an LT to a member, you can choose the LT from the list you can find in the Dashboard > Coaching Platform > Library and then ping us via email (support@mindbeat.app) and we will assign it to the member.

Embedding the Development Plan into Coaching

For coaching to be truly effective, goal-setting should not be a one-time exercise but an ongoing process. Here are key strategies to seamlessly integrate the development plan into the coaching journey:

1. Review Goals Regularly

Check in on progress during coaching sessions, celebrate wins, and refine goals based on evolving needs.

2. Create a Visual Roadmap

Encourage leaders to document their development plan in a format that allows them to track milestones and reflect on growth.

3. Encourage Self-Reflection

Journaling or self-assessments can help leaders stay accountable and gain deeper insights into their progress.

4. Adapt and Pivot When Necessary

Leadership growth is not always linear. Encourage leaders to be flexible and adjust their strategies as needed while staying committed to their overall vision.

The development plan will never be locked: the member can change it every time he/she wants.

If the development plan is enabled and has been filled in by the member, and made public, the Line Manager will be able to download it from a link in the email he gets after the member’s goals are locked (if the member updates the development plan, the line manager won't be notified though).

You will be able to see the latest updated version of the development plan of your member in the member's dashboard.
